As someone who (a comprehensive library of all the constant) grows I also met this problem a few years. Can I recommend InsideCAT (http://www.insidecat.biz) The shareware version allows you to catalog up to 100 CD / DVD, while the full version you can not fire the disk catalog.
You can create categories for your files, image of all or some of the pictures / photos on the disk, the program automatically saves the contents of the files (ZIP, RAR, ARC, LZH, ARJ, etc.) automatically, etc. etc..
